You can add FF to the Nv Control Panel but when FF’s running, there’s no Nvidia activity in Task Manager. Laptop Nvidia cards used to be able to be set to run FF but not now apparently. Need to close FF, should reboot, too.Īlso can just right click on desktop, pick desktop settings and go there directly. And as i said, OEMs have a tendency to screw things up regardless.Try this Windows Weirdness Setting: Settings>Display>Graphics Settings (at bottom) and add Firefox in performance mode. Those that actively want to keep their machines in good running order will deal with it, those that don't care or don't know likely won't and are also prone to screwing up if they get automatically notified.

It all comes back to necessity and laziness. People are already annoyed enough that even radeon settings and in the past prior versions were "phoning home" to check for drivers and complaining that something nefarious was going on. OEMs already hate people updating their drivers, and actively utilize their own crappy utilities. If anything many of the critical drivers are still being rolled out via windows catalog and downloaded along with windows updates. Seriously, we don't need more notifications and reminders and nonsense like this. The shear number of people that don't even install geforce experience for the numerous reasons should also be considered. This is for people that are beyond lazy and frankly, not entirely necessary. I think it would be great if AMD had a similar utility that you could download, it identifies what AMD hardware you have and allows the updating of drivers if any are available.

NVIDIA has the GeForce Experience, a similar utility that once logged into will provide notifications and the ability to install driver updates. Intel has the Driver & Support Assistant (DSA), a utility you download, it detects what Intel hardware you have and easily allows you to download and install driver updates if any are available. AMD, unlike Intel and NVIDIA don't have a utility you can install that will automatically detect what hardware and OS you have to download the correct driver, or notify the user of chipset/driver updates.

In the video though, he raises an interesting point. It's basically just a video saying make sure you install the AMD chipset drivers as they can yield performance and stability improvements and that Windows Update doesn't provide the full suite that is included in the official package and to manually check the AMD site every now and then to make sure you have the latest one. I was watching a video by Carey Holzman titled "The One Thing You MUST Do Differently If You Have An AMD System"
